Laura's Motherhood Journey and the Small Moments She Finds with Solitaire Clash
Player Stories Jan 24, 2026
Every resilience story starts with a real person overcoming challenges in life. The quiet strength resulting from facing uncertainty, health issues, and everyday responsibilities of being a mother appears in
Laura's personal story. Her experience is characterized by the consistent decisions she makes every day to take care of herself and her family, instead of by a particular event.
This piece shows
Laura's motherhood journey through real, realistic moments. Taking care of family, managing one's health, and finding a moment of peace when life feels overwhelming are all crucial. Here, a mother is making her own decisions while remaining faithful to the actions and reflections that support her.
A Life Shaped by Survival and Strength
My name is Laura. I'm a single mom living in Shoreline, Washington. My life has been shaped by long-term illness and survival, experiences that are now shared through this
motherhood journey. I've lived with type 1 diabetes since I was ten, undergone both kidney and pancreas transplants, and faced more medical emergencies than I can easily count. There were times when my health was so fragile that simply making it through the night felt uncertain. Yet, through all of it, I'm still here.
There were stretches when my condition made daily life unpredictable. I dealt with complications that affected my vision, my heart, and my mobility, along with repeated hospital stays and long recoveries. Some nights were especially difficult, filled with concern about whether my body would stabilize by morning. I relied heavily on the people around me during those moments, leaning on their care and support as I focused on getting through each day.
Motherhood Against the Odds
The hardest part of that journey wasn't the physical pain. It was the fear that I might never become a mother. Despite serious medical risks, I eventually welcomed my daughter into the world at 39. Today, she brings constant light into my life. More recently, I also opened my home to her twelve-year-old half-sister when she needed stability and care. Raising two girls on my own comes with challenges, but it's also the greatest purpose I've ever known.

My hope as a mother is simple and deeply personal. I want to stay present as my family grows, to be there for important milestones, and to offer consistency and love. Each day, I focus on caring for my health so I can continue showing up and being fully present.
During quieter moments, especially after long days, I've found comfort in small routines that help me relax. One of those has been playing
Solitaire Clash in the evenings. For me, it's not about anything beyond enjoyment. The game gives me a calm, focused break where I can clear my mind, enjoy the rhythm of play, and take a moment just for myself.
I appreciate the bright visuals, the pace, and the friendly competition. It's something I do on my own time, when the house is quiet, as a way to unwind and reset. Those moments of calm matter, especially after everything my body and family have been through.

I don't measure my life by what I lack. I focus on what I still have. I can laugh. I can walk. I can be present. I have my daughters, my resilience, and moments of peace that help me keep moving forward. That, to me, is more than enough.
Thank you for allowing me to share my story. It's one shaped by survival, motherhood, and finding small pockets of calm in the middle of life's challenges.
